⚠️Franklin Regional Takes Swift Action Amidst Statewide Swatting Scare

Recent swatting incidents, where prank calls or emails prompt large-scale emergency responses, have affected many Pennsylvania schools, including those in Westmoreland County. Franklin Regional School District, among those targeted, has acted promptly to safeguard its students and staff.

In collaboration with the Murrysville Police Department and other local agencies, the Franklin Regional Police Department has assessed these threats as non-credible. However, as a precaution, there will be an increased police presence around our school campuses.

Authorities at various levels, including the FBI, are investigating the origin of these threats. The district reassures the community of the safety of its students and staff, emphasizing the importance of discussing the severity of such threats with children.

Franklin Regional remains steadfast in its commitment to the community's safety and well-being.

Murrysville Madness Lights Up the SportZone!

Last weekend, our very own SportZone was transformed into a boxing arena, thanks to the fifth Murrysville Madness event by Gionta Management. Even if you're not a boxing aficionado, the energy and excitement in the air were palpable!

🥊 Highlight of the Night: Mike Conway, our Pittsburgh pride, delivered a jaw-dropping fifth-round TKO against the talented Jose Marquina. Their bout was a masterclass in skill and strategy.

🌟 Rising Star Alert: Mary Casamassa, another Pittsburgh gem, continued her winning streak with a unanimous decision over Jozette Cotton. Their rematch had everyone on the edge of their seats!

Other notable matches included Paul Palombo's victory over Ryan Burrs and Chavon Stillwell's impressive second-round knockout against Latiss Norman. And, of course, Treavon Craycraft's win over Ramon Guevara added another feather to the event's cap.

A special nod to Brian Dillon, the genius matchmaker behind these well-paired bouts. His expertise ensured an evening of top-tier entertainment.

Franklin Regional Shows Resilience Despite Setback Against Latrobe

Latrobe's boys soccer team showcased their strategic prowess with a packed midfield in their recent Section 4-3A match, securing a 3-0 victory against Franklin Regional at Rossi Field. Despite the loss, Franklin Regional, with a commendable record of 6-3, had been on a four-game winning streak and had only conceded five goals this season.

Coach Lukas Petersen acknowledged the need for team introspection and reassessment. The team faced challenges, playing without two key players, Tyler Pipon and Fabrizzio Costa, due to injuries. The match highlighted the potential and resilience of Franklin Regional, a historically strong team, emphasizing their capability to bounce back in future games.

Franklin Regional's Lone Senior, Ellen Liu, Gears Up for Title-Deciding Showdown

On September 22, Franklin Regional's Senior Day will spotlight Ellen Liu, the team's sole senior, as the 2023 squad is primarily younger players. Liu is set to face Penn-Trafford's Amelia Williams, the current WPIAL Class 3A champion, in a match that could determine the Section 1 title. Despite the departure of several seniors after their 2022 title win, the team, led by Coach Howard Fisher, remains strong. Fisher is particularly optimistic about the singles lineup and the first doubles team. With a current record of 5-1 overall and 5-0 in the section, Franklin Regional is gearing up for a pivotal match against Penn-Trafford.
