Export Council Moves to Reclaim Italy Road, Criticizes State's Maintenance Practices
The Export council is initiating actions to regain control of Italy Road from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). Historically responsible for its winter maintenance and receiving annual funding from PennDOT, the council has approved a winter maintenance agreement and is exploring entry into PennDOT’s Turnback program.
An engineering assessment is needed to estimate the cost of essential road upgrades, with the borough funding the engineering and PennDOT financing the updates and annual maintenance. Residents and officials have previously criticized the state’s management of the road, particularly regarding maintenance choices and the condition of original structures.

Hoss’s Steak and Sea House Celebrates 40 Flavorful Years with Signature Salad Bar Spotlight and Nostalgic Menu Revival
Hoss’s Steak and Sea House is commemorating its 40th anniversary with a special focus on its signature salad bar, offering it at a promotional price of $5.99 for the entire day this Friday, but only for dine-in customers. The salad bar, a fundamental element of their menu, encountered several challenges during the pandemic, particularly due to health concerns related to shared food containers.
Despite these hurdles, the restaurant chain, which first opened its doors in DuBois, PA, in 1983, has successfully expanded to 29 locations, navigating through the pandemic by implementing safety measures and offering takeout options.
The anniversary celebrations extend beyond the special pricing, featuring the reintroduction of nostalgic dishes and considering customer suggestions for additional menu items via social media until October 22.
The restaurant, which embodies a western-style steakhouse theme, credits its four decades of success to effective leadership, a devoted team, and the continuous support from generations of dining families. The anniversary is not only a celebration but also a gesture of appreciation towards the customers and staff who have been integral to the restaurant's sustained operation and success.

Blending the Old with the New: The Coxcomb Serves Up Fresh Culinary Adventures in a Cherished Monroeville Locale
The Coxcomb has opened its doors, offering a new chapter in a well-known locale. The spot at 5060 William Penn Hwy, previously occupied by Bella Luna, now sizzles and simmers with a different kind of culinary spirit since its opening in early June.
The Coxcomb brings to the table what they describe as "Elevated American Fare," offering a menu that gently nudges classic American dishes into a slightly new terrain. It's not about reinventing the wheel but giving it a different spin, providing patrons with something familiar yet intriguingly different.
But beyond the menu, there's a story of continuity and change. Some faces from Bella Luna continue to grace the space, now under the banner of The Coxcomb, bringing with them skills and smiles that have previously lit up the location. It's a blend of the old and the new, where memories of past meals mingle with new culinary experiences.
In this space, The Coxcomb is carving out its own niche, offering a place for more stories to be created, more meals to be shared, and new flavors to be explored. It's not about living in the past but taking it along as they chart their own course in Monroeville’s culinary scene.
Here's to The Coxcomb, ensuring that the flame of good, quality dining continues to burn brightly in Monroeville, welcoming both old friends and new faces to share a meal, a moment, and a memory.
