🥎 Rising Softball Star Toryn Fulton Swings for Success, Commits to South Florida Amidst Heated College Pursuit!

Toryn Fulton, a prominent junior athlete from Franklin Regional, has verbally committed to join the college softball team at South Florida. Known for her powerful hitting as an outfielder and having played as a second baseman in the previous season for the Panthers, Fulton boasts a .552 hitting average and a 1.755 OPS, with a record of eight home runs, seven doubles, and 32 RBIs.

Numerous colleges showed interest in Fulton, with 24 schools initiating contact and presenting various offers. Among the interested parties were James Madison and Penn State. Fulton, who stands at 6 feet, has a familial connection to the sports world through her father, Billy Fulton, a former New York Yankees pitcher in 1987 and a Penn Hills graduate.

Coach Jim Armstrong of the Panthers has expressed admiration for Fulton, highlighting her natural affinity for the game and his pleasure in coaching her since her seventh grade. Throughout her career so far, Fulton has hit 16 home runs.

She will be joining the ranks of other Division I players from Franklin Regional who were coached by Armstrong, including his daughter Natalie Armstrong (Ohio University), Angela Buccilli (Coastal Carolina), and Kayla Jackson (Maryland Baltimore County). South Florida, situated in Tampa, competes in the American Athletic Conference alongside teams from Wichita State, Central Florida, Tulsa, Houston, East Carolina, and Memphis.

In a collaborative effort to assist the community, A-Amy's Notary 2 is partnering with the Plum Borough Police Department to host a special event aimed at addressing the issue of hard-to-read and damaged license plates. The event is scheduled to take place on October 15, 2023, from Noon to 2 pm, at 140 Sandune Dr. Suite D, located behind Shop N Save in the Public Holiday Park off 286.

Vehicle owners who have plates that are damaged or difficult to read are encouraged to attend the event to have their plates checked and initiate the replacement process at no cost.

To participate, attendees are reminded to bring along their current vehicle registration and a valid Pennsylvania driver's license. The replacement license plate will be dispatched and received by participants via mail, ensuring a hassle-free and efficient process.

Did You Know? Murrysville Community Park Offers a Glimpse into Vibrant Wetland Life Through a Scenic Trail and Live Stream!

Did you know that the Murrysville Community Park (MCP) now hosts a lush wetland area and a serene walking trail, all thanks to the Pennsylvania DOT funding and the tireless efforts of several volunteers? This initiative was undertaken to replace the wetlands that were lost during the widening of Route 22, and it has blossomed into a haven for nature enthusiasts and wildlife alike.

The Valley Hiking Trail, stretching a peaceful 1.5 miles from the Sears house on Wiestertown Road, meanders through woods, clearings, and valleys, crossing tributaries of Steels Run, and leading to a high plateau with a breathtaking view of the ball fields and wooded hills afar. Did you know that while traversing this trail, you might encounter a variety of waterfowl, such as geese, wood ducks, and herons, and perhaps even spot mammals like raccoons and muskrats amidst the wetlands?

But that's not all! Did you know that MCP has also integrated an innovative educational component to this project? A sophisticated camera system has been installed to live stream the bustling life within the wetlands, which is being utilized by local schools for educational purposes. The setup includes a 4" Dome Pan-Tilt-Zoom IP camera, an EZ Streamer IP Camera YouTube video encoder, and additional technical gear to ensure a smooth and clear broadcast.

Moreover, did you know that you can be a part of this exciting nature exploration from the comfort of your home? The live stream, governed by a set of viewer-friendly rules, aims to create a positive, clean, and safe environment for all viewers, encouraging constructive interactions and discussions while exploring the vibrant wetland life together online.

PixCams, the team behind the live stream, is passionate about leveraging technology to share these educational and insightful glimpses into nature with viewers worldwide. They are continually on the lookout for new opportunities to bring wildlife experiences to screens near you.

This initiative not only revives a natural habitat but also opens up avenues for the community and online viewers to learn, explore, and appreciate the rich and diverse life within the wetlands. So, did you know about this hidden gem in MCP? If not, it might be time to explore it, either in person or virtually!
