🏈 Chase Lemke Shines as Franklin Regional Triumphs Over Hempfield

Chase Lemke is growing into his role as Franklin Regional's starting quarterback, and his progress is evident in each game. Following a 38-15 victory over Hempfield, Lemke spoke about his increasing comfort in the pocket and the team's shift towards a more balanced offense.

In this game, Lemke shone, completing 10 of 14 passes for 219 yards and three touchdowns, two of which went to his favorite target, Ayden Hudock. These performances have boosted the Panthers' playoff prospects.

Coach Lance Getsy praised Lemke's decision-making against Hempfield's defensive strategy. On the other side, Hempfield faced its seventh consecutive loss, with quarterback Dom Detruf throwing for 200 yards and two touchdowns but struggling against the Panthers' defense.

In addition to Lemke's passing, the Panthers showcased a strong rushing game, with Kyle Dupill rushing for 108 yards and a touchdown.

Despite a slow start, the Panthers found their rhythm, and the game ended with a score of 38-15 in their favor. The Panthers dominated the rushing game, accumulating 213 yards compared to Hempfield's -30.

The game also featured some notable defensive plays, with Brennan Knight recovering a fumble for Hempfield and Heath Silva intercepting a pass for Franklin Regional.

🎃 Vendors Wanted For Trick or Treat on The Trail

Murrysville’s Trick-or-Treat on the Trail event is just around the corner, happening on October 28th, from a cozy noon until 2:00 p.m. And guess what? We’re rolling out the (orange) carpet for local businesses to jump in and be a part of the spooky fun on the Westmoreland Heritage Trail!

Now, if you haven’t heard about it (where have you been hiding? Under a rock...or maybe a tombstone?), Trick-or-Treat on the Trail is our adorable little Halloween bash where kiddos, all decked out in their Halloween best, wander the trail, stopping by booths to collect some scrumptious treats. It’s a heartwarming sight and a memory-maker for our little ones!

But here’s the scoop: while our tiny ghosts and goblins are all signed up and ready to go (yep, registration is full!), we’re on the hunt for some fabulous local businesses to set up shop along the trail and hand out goodies. It’s not just about the candy (though, let’s be honest, it’s a big part!), it’s a sweet opportunity for you to mingle, show off your business, and hey, maybe scoop the award for the “Best Booth” with your wicked decorations!

Need a dash of inspiration? Check out the spooktacular booths from last year on our website. It’s a graveyard smash of creativity and community spirit!

A massive shoutout to our sponsors like Panera Bread Murrysville, ReMax Heritage Realty, and McDonald's Murrysville for chipping in with coupons and bags. You folks are the real MVPs!

And hey, if dressing up and handing out candy isn’t your thing, but you still want to be involved, we’re always on the lookout for volunteers to help make the magic happen.

Walking Through Time: Murrysville's Westmoreland Heritage Trail

Have you ever walked a path and felt the weight of history beneath your feet? In Murrysville, we're lucky to have such a place. The Westmoreland Heritage Trail isn't just another scenic route; it's our community's living memory lane.

Remember those old railway lines we learned about in school? The ones that once connected towns and fueled our local economy? Parts of our trail trace those very routes. As you walk, you can almost hear the distant chug of trains and the lively chatter of folks from a bygone era.

And speaking of bygones, keep an eye out for the markers of our industrious roots. Those old coal mines and railway stations might be silent now, but they have stories to tell. Stories of hard work, ambition, and a community coming together.

But it's not all about looking back. The trail is alive with the here and now. The rustling leaves, the chirping birds, the ever-changing palette of colors across the seasons – nature's magic is on full display. It's a reminder to pause, breathe, and soak in the beauty around us.

What I love most about the trail? The stories. Old-timers sharing tales with youngsters, families creating new memories, and friends catching up on their week. It's where our past meets our present, and together, they dream of the future.

So, next time you're looking for a break, consider the Westmoreland Heritage Trail. It's more than just a walk; it's a journey through our shared history. And who knows? You might just become a part of its next chapter.
