Revitalized Newhouse Park Sees Visitor Boom in Delmont

Over the past five years, Delmont's Newhouse Park has seen significant enhancements, leading to increased visitor numbers and a need for more upgrades. Notable contributions include a $50,000 donation from Dedicated Nursing Associates for basketball court renovations and a drinking fountain installation by the Delmont-Salem Rotary Club.

Recent developments include parking lot paving and a new stormwater basin. The council plans to allocate $15,000 as a match for a potential Westmoreland Conservation District grant, aiming for further park improvements. Councilman David Weber praised the park's transformation and the community's heightened engagement

Understanding Stress and Anxiety: A Community Talk at Franklin Regional Middle School

The Little Theater at Franklin Regional Middle School will serve as the backdrop for an insightful lecture on October 25, as part of the Parent and Community Lecture Series. The talk, titled "We All Need to Feel A Little Zoom out Tingomfortable!", aims to address the pressing concerns surrounding student stress and anxiety.

The lecture intends to clarify the distinctions between stress and anxiety, helping attendees recognize when these feelings might be tipping from normal to concerning. It will also touch upon the potential benefits of manageable stress in building resilience among students.

Leading the discussion is Cara Kelly, the Grade 6-12 Social Services Liaison in FRSD. With her association with the University of Pittsburgh School of Education's MAPS (Maximizing Adolescent Potentials Program) and over 20 years in the fields of mental health and education, Kelly brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. Her academic credentials include a Communications English Bachelor of Arts degree from Gannon University and a School Counseling Masters of Education degree from Slippery Rock University.

While the event is hosted at Franklin Regional Middle School, it's an open forum for parents, educators, and community members to gain insights and share perspectives on the well-being of students.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to contact the event organizers for more information and to RSVP.

🏠 Local Business Spotlight: Greg Micale-The Pittsburgh Real Estate Guy

Nestled among the storefronts of William Penn Highway, the office of Greg Micale might seem like any other realty hub. But step inside, and you're introduced to a narrative that's anything but ordinary.

Greg Micale, now celebrated as "The Pittsburgh Real Estate Guy," began his career far from the glitzy world of property listings and open houses. For 20 years, he was a mainstay in the maintenance department at Kiski Area School District. It was a life of routine, of familiarity. But a sudden medical emergency — a quadruple heart bypass surgery — jolted Greg out of this rhythm, prompting a period of introspection.

Supported by a steadfast partner, who later became his wife, Greg navigated the tumultuous waters of recovery. It was during this time that he stumbled upon a passion he never knew existed: real estate. The subsequent years saw him trading his maintenance tools for property listings, a transition both challenging and rewarding.

Today, Greg's venture, in collaboration with Realty ONE Group Horizon, stands as a testament to his dedication. Harnessing innovative technologies, he offers a seamless property buying and selling experience. But what truly sets him apart is his personal touch — an ability to make the intricate process of real estate feel not just simple, but enjoyable.

Beyond the confines of his office, Greg's commitment to Murrysville shines through. His affiliations with the Freemason Lodge 617 and the Lions Club underscore a deep-seated desire to give back, to be more than just a businessman.

As Greg gears up for the future, his aspirations are clear. He doesn't just want to sell homes; he wants to build relationships, to weave stories, and to continue being a beacon of hope for those who, like him, are looking for a second act in life.

For those in Murrysville and beyond, seeking a real estate experience that's as heartfelt as it is professional, the doors of Greg Micale's office are always open.
