🏈 Panthers Demonstrate Skill and Tenacity in Face-Off with Penn-Trafford Warriors

n a highly anticipated WPIAL Class 5A Big Conference game, the Franklin Regional Panthers demonstrated their mettle against the formidable Penn-Trafford Warriors. While the game concluded with a 27-14 score in favor of Penn-Trafford, the Panthers exhibited moments of excellence that resonated with their supporters.

The match kicked off on a high note for Franklin Regional, with Jack Silvis making a pivotal play by blocking a punt from Penn-Trafford's quarterback, Jonny Lovre. Silvis swiftly capitalized on this move, securing an early touchdown for the Panthers. This play not only energized the team but also set an assertive tone for the game.

The Panthers' defense, renowned for its tenacity, held its ground impressively against the Warriors, particularly during the first half. A significant highlight for Franklin Regional came in the second half when Jude Gentile masterfully steered a 65-yard drive, culminating in a 6-yard touchdown run.

Coach Luke Getsy of Franklin Regional acknowledged the team's commendable performance and the challenges posed by Penn-Trafford's defense. He emphasized the team's growth and the learnings they would take from this game. The Panthers' efforts were further rewarded as they secured a wild-card berth, positioning them well for future games.

👻 FRSH National Honor Society Debuts "Trunk or Treat" for FR Primary School Students

In a delightful display of community spirit and collaboration, the National Honor Society of Franklin Regional Senior High (FRSH) organized its first-ever "Trunk or Treat" event, exclusively tailored for the young students of FR Primary School in grades K-2.

The initiative saw senior high students taking the lead in planning and orchestrating the event. They actively sought candy donations and creatively collaborated with peers to design child-friendly themes. The result was a captivating array of forty uniquely themed cars, each offering a delightful treat and experience for the young attendees.

This event not only provided a safe and fun environment for the primary school students to enjoy the Halloween festivities but also showcased the leadership and community spirit of the senior high students. The collaboration between the older and younger students of the Franklin Regional School District exemplifies the strong sense of community that the district fosters.

🌲 Murrysville's Tree Sign: A Century-Old Landmark in Need of Restoration

Murrysville's renowned tree sign, a collection of evergreens spelling the town's name, is facing visibility issues after nearly a century. Established in the 1930s by the Boy Scouts, its maintenance is managed by the municipality and the nonprofit, Sportsmen and Landowners Alliance of Murrysville (SLAM).

With some trees now over 50 years old, there's a call for significant restoration, estimated at around $100,000. While the municipality allocates up to $6,000 annually for upkeep, concerns about the sign's condition persist. The Mittereders, owners of a section of the sign, emphasize the need for tree replacement. As of a recent council meeting, no immediate actions were decided.
