🚌 School Bus Hits House, Driver Injured, Students Safe
In Murrysville on Thursday afternoon, a Franklin Regional school bus experienced a collision while making a turn, resulting in the driver being taken to the hospital. The incident occurred at the intersection of Northlawn Circle and Longview Drive.
The bus unexpectedly struck a house, but fortunately, there was no significant structural damage to the property. On board were four students from Franklin Regional Middle School who, thankfully, did not sustain any injuries. These students were examined as a precaution and their parents have been promptly informed about the incident. The driver's condition is currently being assessed at a local hospital.
Murrysville Area Contractor Faces Multiple Fraud Charges Across Westmoreland County
Daniel Ronald Amodeo, a 54-year-old contractor from Pitcairn, faces multiple charges across Westmoreland County for fraudulent business practices.
Accused of accepting payments for work he never completed, Amodeo's legal troubles span several jurisdictions, including Allegheny Township, North Huntingdon, Murrysville, Latrobe, Baldwin Township, and Pittsburgh. Residents in these areas are cautioned to verify the credentials of contractors, as Amodeo's case highlights the risks of unverified hiring. His trial is set to proceed with various pretrial conferences scheduled, underscoring the importance of contractor vetting in the region.
Murrysville-Export Rotary Club Transforms Collected Plastics into Public Benches
The Murrysville-Export Rotary Club is actively engaged in a community-focused environmental initiative, collecting plastic materials to repurpose into public benches. This eco-friendly project has already seen the installation of eight benches across six locations in Murrysville and Export, showcasing the club's commitment to sustainability and public service.
Residents of Murrysville and Export can participate in this green endeavor by depositing plastic items at various collection points. These include the Murrysville municipal building lobby and the Murrysville library, both situated on Sardis Road; Laird Hall at First Presbyterian Church, located on North Hills Road in Murrysville; ProTrucks and Virgin Flooring, both on Route 22; Completely Booked in the Blue Spruce Shoppes; Franco’s Expert Nails and the Rewind Reuse Center, both on Washington Avenue in Export; and the Friends Thrift Shop on Old William Penn Highway.
The types of plastic accepted for this recycling program are plastic film, stretch wrap, and shopping bags. This initiative not only aids in reducing plastic waste but also enhances local public spaces with the addition of practical, recycled benches.
