Nine-Month House Arrest for Delmont Resident in Teen Assault Case

A 23-year-old Delmont man, Dezhane M. Amey, has entered a guilty plea to a charge of statutory sexual assault involving a 15-year-old girl. This plea led to a sentence of nine months of house arrest and a two-year probation term, as determined by Judge Tim Krieger of the Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court. The plea agreement also resulted in the dismissal of additional felony charges, including unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of a minor.

The case unfolded following a vehicle accident in Penn Township, where both Amey and the teenage girl were passengers along with two other individuals. Subsequent to the accident, the girl's mother, while retrieving her daughter from the police station, discovered unfamiliarity with Amey. Her concerns deepened after inspecting her daughter's cellphone, which revealed evidence of sexual activity. Investigations further indicated that Amey was aware of the girl's age prior to their engagement, as suggested by text messages and social media posts.

Nominations Open for Franklin Regional's First Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

The Franklin Regional School District has recently established an Athletic Hall of Fame, a new initiative designed to celebrate and honor individuals who have significantly contributed to the district's athletic legacy. This Hall of Fame is open to former athletes, coaches, administrators, and supporters from Franklin Regional Senior High or its predecessor institutions. The aim is to recognize those who have brought recognition and pride to the district’s athletic programs and the community.

Inductions into the Hall of Fame will occur biennially, with nominations for the inaugural "Class of 2024" opening on January 15, 2024, and closing on February 16, 2024. The district plans to hold a celebration for the 2024 inductees in the fall of the same year.

The Franklin Regional Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, comprising various alumni and school officials, including Director of Athletics Mr. Zachary Kessler and Senior High Principal Mr. Ronald Suvak, will oversee the selection process.
