Delmont Council Considers Introducing Dog Park and Speed Humps Following Residents' Requests
During a recent meeting, Delmont residents urged the council to consider the establishment of a dog park and the installation of speed humps on West Pittsburgh Street.
A local resident highlighted the increasing demand for a dog park, noting the availability of grants for such projects and suggesting Shields Farm as a potential location. The council acknowledged the suggestion, indicating that it could be incorporated into the future plans for Shields Farm.
Additionally, concerns were raised about the high speed of vehicles on West Pittsburgh Street, with a proposal to install speed humps to mitigate the issue. The borough engineer mentioned the necessity of conducting a traffic study before installation and also suggested considering a grant for a speed trailer to help monitor vehicle speeds.
The council, however, did not make any immediate decisions on the proposals.

STEELERS
Kenny Pickett Reflects on Steelers' Disappointing Season Opener, Looks Ahead to Next Game
After a disappointing 30-7 loss in the season opener, Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Kenny Pickett analyzed the team's performance, attributing the loss to physical errors rather than mental ones.
Despite the offense's lackluster performance, with only 1 net yard through five possessions and 28 minutes of game time, Pickett maintains that the preparation was good but the execution on the field was lacking.
Pickett, who had a notably better performance in the 2022 rookie season and during the recent training camp, seemed less comfortable during the game, missing open receivers multiple times and having two interceptions among his 46 throws. Despite the setback, Pickett remains optimistic about the upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns, emphasizing the team's positive energy and readiness to compete and win in the next game.
PIRATES
Pittsburgh Pirates Narrowly Secure Victory Against Washington Nationals
In a closely contested match on Wednesday night, the Pittsburgh Pirates managed to clinch a 7-6 victory over the Washington Nationals, thanks in part to Bryan Reynolds' notable performance with his 21st homer and two singles. The Pirates capitalized on Jackson Rutledge's shaky major league debut, establishing an early lead.
Only thing stopping that from the river was the foul pole.

Despite a rocky start to his season, Pirates rookie Quinn Priester showcased an improved performance, holding the fort for over four innings before losing steam. The Nationals attempted a comeback with significant contributions from Dominic Smith and rookie catcher Drew Millas, who both hit home runs, narrowing the score gap to just two points. However, the Pirates managed to hold their ground, with David Bednar successfully fending off a late surge from the Nationals in the ninth inning.
Meanwhile, the Nationals' Rutledge had a rough start to his major league career, conceding seven runs in less than four innings and suffering a minor injury during a play in the fourth inning. Despite the Nationals' spirited comeback attempt, they couldn't bridge the gap entirely, marking their 10th loss in the last 14 games.
In other news, Pirates' shortstop Oneil Cruz is gradually resuming training following an ankle injury in April, with hopes of returning to high-level baseball activities during the winter.
The series between the Pirates and the Nationals will conclude with an afternoon game on Thursday.
